Peach Days and Downata Springs

YEE HAW!!!
PORTER'S CURRENT DREAM JOB!
OUR NEW PET "NIBBLE"
CALEB'S FAVORITE ACTIVTY...SAND EATING

It's been awhile,so to avoid disappointing our fans:) I thought I'd cram the last few weeks into one post. Busy, busy, busy... Dave started teaching a Triginometry class at the University just for fun (doesn't really sound like a party to me, but he likes it) and volleyball season started. I am in charge of sports for the Young Women, Women and Coed in our ward, which keeps me busy and takes up three nights a week, but I love it. This, added to Dave's class and Bishopric, keeps us running, but we enjoy it.

My tennis lessons, which I absolutely loved and will definitely do again next year ended. This little old couple in their 70's were the teachers and they were just hilarious.
My sister, Cheryl, moved in with us for a month (in between graduating from Utah State and finding a job/apartment in Salt Lake). It was fun hanging out and we miss her.

We enjoyed Peach Days, which is the big city celebration here and Mmmmm...best dutch oven peach cobbler I've ever tasted! We came home from Peach Days with a miniature frog. He's pretty cute, Porter named him "Nibble" and I'm honestly surprised that he is still alive after all the "love" Porter gives him.

And finally we had a fun friend campout at some hot springs in Idaho. There were 6 families. We played lots of volleyball, swam, went on some great four wheeler rides and one of the guys brought up his projecter and screen for a fun outdoor movie. Good times!

Secret Date Society

Dave and some of his friends got together and planned another secret date for their wives (we're really being spoiled)! The guys have started calling it the Secret Date Society. Dave dropped me off at our friend's house and then the husbands returned with huge flower bouquets for each wife. Then we went to a Japanese restaurant, followed by a play and then pie at Marie Calendars. Dave even got a babysitter again! Dave ordered an eel dish at the restaurant. He really liked it, I had a taste and thought it was a little strange. The play/musical was in Ogden, similiar to Hale Theatre and since one of the husbands knew the director we actually had complimentary, front row tickets. It was all so fun and the husbands were so cute about keeping things secret. They already have another date in the works. Dave, I love you very much, thanks for adding these little diversions to my life and making me feel like a princess!

Sisters' Weekend

Every year, my sisters and I go on a little trip. This year we choose St. George. Cheryl wasn't able to come, but Caryn and I drove down and met Jen. It was a wonderfully relaxing weekend away from children, husbands and all the responsibilities of home. We had a great time shopping, hiking, swimming, acting immature and seeing Les Miserables at the Tuachan theatre. Thanks Dave for watching the boys and thanks Jen and Caryn for an awesome trip. I'm so grateful that Heavenly Father gave me sisters!

SECRET DATE

For several weeks, Dave and two other guys in our ward have been planning this secret date for their wives. They've been dropping funny hints like, "you better wear your swimsuit and hiking boots", or "I hope you like to eat _____" etc... Anyway, last night was the big night. All the girls were brought over to our house to wait with nervous anticipation, while the boys took off for final preperations. Then they came and got us and drove us up in the mountains where we went four-wheeling and ended up at a campsite that they had set up for dinner. The guys were so cute, they had a tablecloth out with our favorite beverages and opened up the packs on the four-wheelers to reveal Maddox take-out. We ate and then played games the guys had packed, sat around the campfire, made smores and went on a few more four-wheeler rides. It was simple and so fun, especially because the guys had put all this extra effort into planning it and keeping it secret. Dave even called a sitter and had her dropped off at our house! All the wives were laughing, saying that we felt like we were in highschool on a day activity before a dance. Good job boys, you scored big points!!

Bishopric Survival

Dave was called to be in our new Bishopric about a month ago. The weekdays and even Sundays are going well. Sacrament meeting however is a sweat inducing experience. The first week, Porter was crawling under the benches and running out into the center isle yelling, "I want my dad!". I was trying to contain Caleb and catch Porter to take them out when the lady behind me reached over and took a squirming Caleb from my arms. Then I was finally able to get Porter under control. She ended up with Caleb for the rest of the meeting.

Week 2 came and I received several phone calls before church and several people approached me as I walked in, all inviting me and the boys to sit with their families. I was touched by everyone's concern and embarassed that our previous weeks' chaos was probably a topic at Sunday dinner for 1/2 the ward..."Poor Sis. Dunaway, she really had her hands full", "That little blonde Dunaway boy is so cute, but wow he's got some evasive maneuvers" etc... So, I decided it was either spend the next five years locked up in the mother's room or accept some much needed help.

For the last two weeks we have been sitting by not one, but two families AND one of our babysitters came and sat with us. I am very greatful for all of the extra hands, although last week one of the teenage boys really had Porter laughing. I thought, "Well, at least it's not screaming, crying or yelling" and MOST of the marshmellows stayed in our row:)
