SECRET DATE

For several weeks, Dave and two other guys in our ward have been planning this secret date for their wives. They've been dropping funny hints like, "you better wear your swimsuit and hiking boots", or "I hope you like to eat _____" etc... Anyway, last night was the big night. All the girls were brought over to our house to wait with nervous anticipation, while the boys took off for final preperations. Then they came and got us and drove us up in the mountains where we went four-wheeling and ended up at a campsite that they had set up for dinner. The guys were so cute, they had a tablecloth out with our favorite beverages and opened up the packs on the four-wheelers to reveal Maddox take-out. We ate and then played games the guys had packed, sat around the campfire, made smores and went on a few more four-wheeler rides. It was simple and so fun, especially because the guys had put all this extra effort into planning it and keeping it secret. Dave even called a sitter and had her dropped off at our house! All the wives were laughing, saying that we felt like we were in highschool on a day activity before a dance. Good job boys, you scored big points!!

Bishopric Survival

Dave was called to be in our new Bishopric about a month ago. The weekdays and even Sundays are going well. Sacrament meeting however is a sweat inducing experience. The first week, Porter was crawling under the benches and running out into the center isle yelling, "I want my dad!". I was trying to contain Caleb and catch Porter to take them out when the lady behind me reached over and took a squirming Caleb from my arms. Then I was finally able to get Porter under control. She ended up with Caleb for the rest of the meeting.

Week 2 came and I received several phone calls before church and several people approached me as I walked in, all inviting me and the boys to sit with their families. I was touched by everyone's concern and embarassed that our previous weeks' chaos was probably a topic at Sunday dinner for 1/2 the ward..."Poor Sis. Dunaway, she really had her hands full", "That little blonde Dunaway boy is so cute, but wow he's got some evasive maneuvers" etc... So, I decided it was either spend the next five years locked up in the mother's room or accept some much needed help.

For the last two weeks we have been sitting by not one, but two families AND one of our babysitters came and sat with us. I am very greatful for all of the extra hands, although last week one of the teenage boys really had Porter laughing. I thought, "Well, at least it's not screaming, crying or yelling" and MOST of the marshmellows stayed in our row:)

IT'S SUPER PORTER!!!

There is a simulated skydiving tube in Ogden that we've watched a few times. You go in the tube and there are giant fans that blow from the bottom, so you actually fly! Porter loves watching and has been asking to fly forever. Since you must be at least 3 years old, we told him he could go for his birthday. He was bouncing of the walls with excitement the whole way to the facility. He listened very carefully to the instructor and they had him practice his Superman position on a table before he went into the tube. He was so great (SEE THE AWESOME VIDEO)!!. The instructor kept looking at his face to see if he was scared and Porter just kept smiling ear to ear. He can't wait to fly again!
His face looked so hilarious squished behind these huge goggles that I couldn't help but LAUGH:)

Seven Years and No Itching

This year Dave and I celebrated our 7th Anniversary. I am so greatful for such a wonderful husband. I truly was blessed to marry my best friend. In celebration of our 7 years, here are 7 fun facts about us.

  1. We met while teaching at the Senior Missionary Training Center. Dave was teaching Russian and I was teaching Croatian.
  2. We both received our BS degrees from BYU. Dave went on to get his Masters in Chemical Engineering and I taught highschool P.E. and Psychology.
  3. We love running. We both go nearly everyday. We sometimes go on family runs with the running stroller. In fact, Porter (our 3-year-old) can run a whole mile all by himself.
  4. Dave does the dinner dishes almost every single night.
  5. We love to eat out and try international cuisine. We enjoy the adventure of finding different, but delicious places to go. Some of our favorite types of food are; Armenian, Indian, Thai, Greek and Peruvian.
  6. We have traveled together to Russia, Croatia and the Netherlands.
  7. Dave would like to have a dozen children, but I say, "No way, unless you can figure out a way for you to be the pregnant one!"

Runaway Dunaway is the title of our blog for a reason. Dave and I LOVE to run. We even went on running "dates" together before we were married.

Dave now runs during his lunch hour and I meet the most amazing running partner ever (aside from Dave, of course) at the high school track every morning. Jen and I met about 3 years ago when we both moved up here. She is an amazing person as well as running partner. We each have two boys and the older two and the younger two are both 6 months apart. The older boys play in the sand (long jump pit) and we push the babies in strollers while we run around and around.... Wow!!! those strollers have a lot of miles on them. Jen and I have run together through rain, snow, blood, sweat, tears and pregnancies!
We decided this summer to train for a half-marathon. We ran a Fourth of July 15K (9.3 miles) and did AWESOME! Keeping a 7:20 min/mile pace. We're hoping to do even better in August at the Top of Utah 1/2 marathon.

These are some pictures of us after the 15K. Tell you what, for a couple of ladies with babies, we're pretty hot mamas!
