Cookie Monster!

Yesterday, I fed the boys breakfast and then went into the other room to feed the baby (I put the breakfast part in because they rarely get breakfast first thing and will fend for themselves until I get a chance, but I was feeling particularly proud that I accomplished that task so early). I returned and found a partially eaten cookie on the table. I thought to myself, "I don't mind me a good cookie in the morning, I think I'll have one too." I opened the cupboard and to my surprise there were no cookies. I baked them just the day before so I was sure they were somewhere. I began searching the kitchen. Eventually, I found the ziploc bag with only crumbs. I summoned Caleb and asked him where over a dozen cookies had disappeared to in 30 minutes. Innocently he answered, "I ate them!"

Lots of Happy News!

I found out this week that an amazing friend is adopting a baby! Another wonderful friend is having a girl (after 9 boys)! Yesterday, Dave received a cash Achievement Award for work on Switchblade and we got a fat check from AFLAC, even though Seth was born 7 days early. And to top it all off, Seth slept from 11:30pm-5:00am last night! I usually have the winter blues in January and February, but not anymore.

Seth is officially 6 weeks old and I knocked out 4 miles today. HOORAY!!!

Christmas Dinner

We were shut in for the holidays this year because of the new baby. I missed all the holiday socializing and especially our family parties, but this was a good excuse to create some new Christmas traditions. My two favorites were; acting out characters from the Christmas story with charades (this was Porter's idea), and Dave fixing Christmas dinner.

Dave went all out for Christmas dinner. He started by looking through my cookbooks and online to create his menu. He then made a shopping list and went to the store (he even used coupons!). Next he typed up a cooking schedule with all of the recipes and when he needed to start prepping and cooking each one (very engineer like). He then invited my parents and sister to come and enjoy the meal with us. Everything turned out DELICIOUS and we had lots of yummy leftovers. Dave enjoyed it and said he will do it next year too. Wow, how did I luck out?

Grandmas Are the BEST!

Grandmas are the BEST or my kids have the BEST grandmas. We were lucky to have each grandma spend a few days with us after Seth was born. The boys loved all the extra attention and I appreciated the extra help, fun conversations and the great, guiltless naps I enjoyed. All my laundry stayed caught up and I don't think my house has ever been so clean. Even my microwave and garbage can got washed! Yikes! (just two of my dirty secrets). Thank you Mom Hone and Mom Dunaway for being so wonderful!

Vintage Dress-up

I really wanted to have Seth blessed in this darling outfit. Dave wore it when he was blessed and since we named Seth after Dave (Seth David) I thought it would be very appropriate. However, when it was already tight at Seth's two and a half week mark, I could tell that it certainly was not going to fit a month later. So, I had to settle for a photo shoot. He looks so cute though and I can't believe that Dave was ever this little. Before I know it, my little boys are going to be all grown up and I will be passing this little outfit on to their wives *sigh*. The darling blanket was hand crocheted by the sweetest lady in our ward.
